Fill the Sketchbook

100 Sketchbook Drawings

When listening to the song Age of Consent by New Order, which I have chosen, I imagine a teenage Romcom with teenage figures. I don't image a monster dancing and therefore am devoting my character design sketchbook to figuring out how to do character design for people. SO they are intact not people but characters.

I have taken lots of photos of my friends to use them as reference. I explained to them what I was trying to capture and put the music on in the background so they could be inspired by it too.
I wanted to do studies of faces as well as long shots.

I really like the aesthetic that coloured pencils bring. They make the images look playful and less realistic.

I feel that through these pages my people have developed and line work has become minimal and they are becoming more stylised but I realise that they still need development...

In these images I quite like the lines which give him a strange chin. I feel that this brings character and is a style choice because they look unreal. However I am aware that I need to be limiting lines so that it is possible to draw lots of times but slightly differently.
Here I wanted to draw a sequence of different stages of a hug as this could possibly turn into my Gif.
