I found this exercise interesting as it was a good way of seeing different peoples character design and drawing in their style. The comments on mine did reflect the love struck nature however people said that I needed to portray the story more.
It was reflected that maybe I could add texture into the hair however I am cautious of this because I am aware that it needs to become into a fluid Gif. I quite like the simplicity and block colours and it will be about how the block of hair and the clothing changes in the different slides which adds interest. The facial expressions will also be very important, just slight changes.
I am definitely sticking with the eyes as circles!
I like the over lapping which occurred in this image and another previous page. It was suggested that I could incorporate this into my Gif through showing the same character but in 3 different colours and each movement is a different layer and colour. It could make for an interesting motion. Therefore not only the body language and expressions would be the visually interesting but also the colour-kind of playing on hand drawnness.
I like the one of the girl with a fringe and I think the colour orange is very playful and entertaining.
I have tried drawing my friend in pink in previous times and she is just soon difficult to draw. I am not sure what it is but I find her very challenging to capture.
Here the guy in blues head is out of proportion to the rest of his body which was unintentional but adds character him through the use of disproportion.
From here I think there is still development needed. I need to chose a guy and a girl character which are going to be in my 3 Gifs.
I need to experiment more with slight differences so that there will be a fluid movement. I think I will start doing this by taking some more photos and maybe some videos.
I think I will also ask them to dress up in appropriate clothes to try and communicate the characters better. For example I think I am going to take the girl with the fringe and get her to wear a dress and some hair clips and a necklace. I think the fringe works well at making her seem young so I want the clothing to reflect innocence and cuteness. I definitely think that they need to portray more of a character with aspects of their first love and teenage innocent to be portrayed through their mannerisms?
Also from my tutorial it was suggested that I think about whether they will be full figures or just close ups of the head. Perhaps I will have a Gif of the girl blinking and holding her hands together in a happy love struck way. Or have the guy happy dancing and then have one where the boy and girl are together maybe the guy running after the girl or them kissing/holding hands.
I think I might try transferring some of these drawings onto my Wacom and seeing how the characters transfer digitally and if they come to life more...
I have chosen 2 people as reference which really gave it everything with their dance moves and are definitely extraverts rather than introverts which I think also reflects immature behaviour which I definitely want to capture.
