Picture Area

Picture Area
The first thing that an artist concentrates on when composing an image

Example of this is through the lens of a camera - you select the area you want to take.

Size can massively change the effect and atmosphere of an image.

Need to establish a scale of relative importance when there are multiple images on the same pace so that viewers eye knows where to go. Size should always be considered when creating an image.

The border may be used to crop an image and overlap objects

A great deal of commons sense needs to be applied when composing an image.
RULES:
  • dont split the picture in half
  • use the whole picture area
  • don't line things up
  • vary placement
  • dont crois the bottom
  • use the upper half
  • dont centre everything
  • move things to the side
  • don't leave a hole
  • make good use of your space
  • don't let the objects touch
  • overlap the objects
