Punk, Northern Soul and Ska 6 pages

NORTHERN SOUL, SKA, PUNK

Here we had to create 6 pages of drawings which illustrate our chosen theme. I chose this sub-culture of music and mainly focussed on the dancing associated with each theme. I didn't manage to do 6 pages, instead 5 however quite a few drawings on each.

At first, when started and in the studio, I made some mistakes. I thought that Northern Soul was 'soul' from the north  which I later discovered is not the scene (the page below shows the right Northern Soul)...

All of my drawings are from reference because I still lack the ability of imagining figures and their body language however I tried to show my interpretation.

I particularly like this image. I feel that it captures the madness of mashing! I wanted to fill the page with some colour so quickly did a mooching scene in ink pen when isn't a good drawing but I think it shows the chaos. I then filled in a coloured background and thought it needed something more. Then I added more mothers and decided to draw them going onto of the other mothers rather than behind. In summary I think this is just a crazy scene and I quite like it.
