Line-Tone, Mark, Pattern

LINE and PATTERN day
Here I was representing 3 contrasting words through pattern. I found it difficult initially to understand what was expected and therefore some of my mark making was predominantly line.
My words were: Rest and Motion, Swarm and Still, Bonkers and Meh

The swirl was a bit to "simbolly" however in the first image I feel that the line used really portrayed the effect of a busy, messy, all around the place swarm.
This is some that are predominantly line driven but more and more there are some patterns added
This is then developed into applying these techniques into an image- architecture to be precise. We had to design a house for a class cityscape... I had never thought of what my dream house would look like and I had 2 hours to make it! Unfortunately I ran out of time to complete all of my design so i resorted to making it look presentable by outlining everything in black and rubbing out my pencil marks.
Here i had to substitute some of the colours to the paper available. Also it was a bit too ambitious a design to tackle in the 2 hours...

The night before creating this we had an interesting lecture from Louse Lockhart who used a lot of paper cut. Collage is something that I seem to be naturally drawn to however I thought it would be a really interesting way of applying colour with the limited paper we were allowed house. Also it would be a way of not using pattern for everything so that what pattern is there is more impacting. I was going to fill in the balcony, stairs and windows with other patterns but only managed to fit this amount into the 2 hours. I am quite pleased with the pillars, I feel they have 3 dimension to them :)
