Hippie drawings

Line Quality

This is a continuation from experimenting with lines, squares, circles and wiggles to explore line quality and the different ways to mark make. 

I chose to continue on my music theme but more onto Hippies. 

We were supposed to explore the topic so I chose 7 reference images to explore through my 30 drawings.

I feel that there are some reeeeeally bad drawings in this collection but a few unusual ones which are effective...for example I tried the use of thick black acrylic and this that the lady sitting (below) works well. Here I used a really small brush and applied some areas thickly and dragged the brush over the lighter areas. I also like the dude (in black at the bottom of the page) where I used the handle of the brush to make some very textured and some scratchy marks.
